Beads Out Level 242 Guide: The Curtain and Ice Block Blockade

Beads Out Level 242 is a ruthless bottleneck. The bottom Dock layout is entirely designed to restrict your space. You start with a massive red Curtain marked with a "4" dead center in the lower rows. Next to it, tucked in the bottom right corner, sits a blue Ice Block stamped with an "8". You cannot access the Boxes underneath these obstacles until you clear enough of the board to hit those exact countdown numbers.

The color spread on the Conveyor is heavily front-loaded. You have massive, dense clusters of Dark Blue, Dark Red, and Lime Green pushing toward the bottom spout immediately. If you feed the wrong color into the empty top slots too early, the belt jams. You only have four empty slots in the active area. The real challenge of Beads Out Level 242 is managing that tiny buffer space while forced to chip away at the top row of Boxes just to get the Curtain open.

Reading the Board in Beads Out Level 242

Look at your starting layout. The active buffer is completely empty, giving you four open slots. The immediate waiting area holds four accessible Boxes: Dark Red, Dark Blue, Beige, and Olive Green.

Beneath them sits a second layer of Boxes: Lime Green, Purple, Yellow, and Orange.

Then comes the trap layer. On the far left, you have two Lime Green Boxes stacked vertically. In the middle, that massive red Curtain blocks an unknown Box. On the bottom right, the Ice Block seals away another.

Now look at the Conveyor. It forms a wide bottom loop with two "rabbit ear" loops at the top. The spout feeds from the dead center bottom. Notice what is directly next to the spout. The right side is choked with Dark Blue beads, immediately followed by Dark Red. The left side is clogged with Pink and Lime Green.

Here is the problem. You do not have a Pink Box available anywhere in the visible Dock. If you tap those Pink beads, they will drop into your buffer and sit there. They will steal one of your four precious slots. Do not touch them.

The top loops of the Conveyor also hold Mystery Boxes hidden in black segments. The top left ear has a long string of Beige leading into a black hidden segment. The top right ear has White beads leading into another black hidden segment. You cannot worry about these yet. Your entire focus must be the bottom spout and the top four waiting Boxes.

Beads Out Level 242 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

You must clear four Boxes exactly to drop the center Curtain. That dictates your entire opening sequence. Precision here is everything. One wrong tap fills the buffer with dead weight.

The Opening Trap in Beads Out Level 242

You need to clear the top row of the Dock immediately. Dark Red, Dark Blue, Beige, and Olive Green are your only valid targets.

  1. Start with Dark Blue. The right side of the spout is loaded with them. Tap the Dark Blue string to pull the Dark Blue Box up and fill it.
  2. Next is Dark Red. A large block of Dark Red beads is sitting right behind where the Blue just was. Tap it. The Dark Red Box moves up and clears.
  3. The counter on the center Curtain drops to 2. You need two more clears.
  4. Look at the left side of the spout. You have Lime Green waiting. You have a Lime Green Box sitting in the second row, just below where the Dark Red Box started. Pull the Lime Green Box up into the active slot.
  5. Feed the Lime Green beads from the left side of the spout into the box.
  6. You need one more clear for the Curtain. Look at the top left loop. A long string of Beige beads is moving down. Pull up your Beige Box from the starting top row.
  7. Feed the Beige beads in to clear the box.

Dropping the Curtain in Beads Out Level 242

Four boxes are gone. The red Curtain in the bottom center vanishes. This completely changes the board state.

  1. The hidden Box under the curtain is Beige. Leave it alone for a second.
  2. The board is now much wider. The second row of Boxes is fully accessible. You now have Yellow, Purple, and Orange ready to move up.
  3. The Conveyor has shifted drastically. The bottom section of the track now contains long strings of Red, Magenta, Blue, and more Red.
  4. The left side of the track is now dominated by Green, Beige, Yellow, and Orange.
  5. Move the Yellow and Orange Boxes up into your active slots.
  6. Tap the massive strings of Yellow and Orange beads sliding down the left side of the track. Fill both boxes back-to-back.
  7. Move the Purple Box up. Feed it the Purple beads dropping from the top right loop.
  8. Move the White Box up. The top right loop has a clean run of White beads ready. Feed them in.

Shattering the Ice Block in Beads Out Level 242

You have now cleared eight total Boxes. The blue Ice Block in the bottom right corner shatters.

  1. The destroyed Ice Block reveals a Dark Brown Box.
  2. The Conveyor is significantly thinner now. The black hidden segments at the top have pushed their mystery beads down into the main loop.
  3. Look for the Dark Brown beads. They will be mixed into the remaining scattered clusters.
  4. Pull the Dark Brown Box into your active slots. Fill it immediately to get it out of the way.
  5. The remaining layout is cleanup. You have the second Lime Green Box on the bottom left. Pull it up and feed it the remaining Green beads.
  6. Grab the second Beige Box that was hidden under the curtain. Feed it.
  7. Clear the straggling Light Blue and Pink beads into their respective Boxes at the very bottom of the Dock.
  8. The game will trigger the Last Four speed-up. Keep your taps accurate. The final four colors will zip around the remaining loop. Time your taps to catch them as they cross the spout. Board cleared.
